The visit went better this time. My mom is still a little bit the same but she is coming down. It is crazy though that I can't bring anything into the hospital just basically myself. I brought her 3 cards so far. Another crazy thing: I can't read to her because I can't bring my reading glasses into the hospital either. Every since I got my surgeries as some of you know, I can't see well enough to read. I guess it takes a lot of adjustment after wearing prescription glasses since I was 15, it is hard to get used to the reading glasses. I am going through a lot of changes too. Oh well...all I seem to be able to do sometimes is saying the Serenity Prayer even if sometimes it doesn't make sense to me. You would think after all these years, it would come naturally to understand when I say it but these days I am so baffled. I am going to try reading more of my mediation books too. So far, I have been reading one or all of them lately. Hopefully they will help me stay focused & grounded. I am not sure if I am making sense again.
Alcoholism is a disease I know but so is mental illness. I am struggling w/ the latter. I hope this journey ends soon as I am not prepared for the future events to come. I am just struggling. No projection just a lot of concern. I am not just concerned about my mom, I am concerned about how I am going to face each day w/ some level of sanity & serenity. I need to find more suggestions on how to cope.
I will try to use the slogans more too. I am just so grateful I am still coming to these rooms. I just keep coming back cause it works & I am worth it!
Gosh, Kathleen, certainly is a strict environment your Mom is staying in right now. Glad you could visit with her and that she is doing better. Good to hear from you today.
