A Year Later

It is amazing when the writing is on the wall.  I came to the site exactly a year ago close to this time. Infact I posted close to my birthday. Guess what? The same things keep happening. It is almost like repeat seeing things.

My SO are now living in different cities, different places and things haven't changed much. Infact he says he needs time alone. Which in turns makes me feel rejected. I am keeping myself and my girls the center focus on my life. I can't tell you badly it hurts, or how disappointed I am. My birthday is next week on Monday and I am not sure how this will pan out. I am planning on a very nice outgoing regardless if he comes or not.

One thing I can say through all of this is my father has been amazing. He had a long talk with me and told me no matter what my health is the number one concern since I have serious heart conditions. I have had 3 major heart surgeries. He was very upset the last time he saw me when my SO and I were together because I was not myself and my health was declining. He reminded me no matter what you are not anyone's house keeper or mother. Your health is the MOST paramount to me. He knows I try 100% and actively bring about change in my life. He also knows how disappointed I am but like he said it was better I learned before I married because that would have been much worse.

I am slowly learning things every day, I am going for counseling and I am planning to overcome all of this (hell or high water!) I am a survivor and I know this lessons in life were for a reason.

I hope you can make it to al-anon face to face meetings to help you through your cycling and I am glad you came back here to MIP! Have you read "Getting Them Sober" by Toby Rice Drews, it is one of the best books I read to help me with my A's. Sending you love and support!

Sweet picture in your avatar. Thank you for sharing a bit of your story with us. Al-Anon won't fix your heart condition, but the program will help to reduce the stresses that you have written about here. I'm not sure if you can get out much with your health issues, but we do have on-line meetings here twice a day if that hasn't already been mentioned? Lots of support to you as you make the changes necessary for you now. Keep coming back.
