lol??

This evening- as my AB was getting himself good and drunk in celebration of it being Friday, he mentioned to me that a house we had previously looked at was up for rent again, and that he would like to take another look at it. Then he grew serious and said "I have a concern though. The house has a lot of stairs. What if you fell down them when you were drinking?" I cocked my head and looked at him for a while, but nope, couldn't think of a reply to that one so I just shrugged. "Beats me". He stood up and fell over the coffee table shortly afterwards.

lol?????

I'm happy that I didn't get angry; a while ago I would have gotten defensive and said "what in the name of holy &^%$#@@ are you talking about?" But I didn't. "Cause I'm getting better and it really doesn't matter.

But still, lol?????

Melly:

Your story is a good reminder to me that our As have a clearly defined perception of reality, and it is often FAR from what is truly happening around them.

When my marriage began its unravelling in earnest, my AH looked at me and said he was surprised that this drinking issue, which had been a problem really only a 'sliver of time' could be the cause for our split.  The sliver of time in real life was 21+ years!! Go figure

btw sounds like you handled that scenario just right

Melly!!!!!!! What a well cultivated sense of humor you have. It sure won't change his behavior, but it should help you keep your sanity and your tongue when what you have to say won't improve the situation for you at all. Glad you're on this board. Thanks for my giggle this afternoon.
The situation isn't funny, but the way you worded it - well, it is.

Dear Melly

I too have had very similar situations that left me equally puzzled.

It really does show how the" A "projects  their negative issues onto us and how important is for us to stay focused on our behavior so as not to become  confused and lost.

Thanks for the post and the smilesmile
