God Can

Yesterday I made a God Can. I had bought a little can of peanuts at wal mart for $1 and saved the can. I covered the top with strips of marble-like contact paper. (Strips overlap and smooth better than just one piece.) THen I covered the sides and cut a slit in the top with an x-acto. On the top I wrote with sharpie God can On the sides I wrote I can't...God Can! I bought three more cans of nuts this morning. As they empty I will make more God Cans. I want to give them away at my f2f tomorrow night. I use it like a God Box to slip in papers of things I want to let go and give to God.

((( LIN )))

You are in practice to help yourself and doing a good job of it. Also a little help for others makes you feel good. Something we need to do every single day.

How you made me smile reading your post.... ((( hugs )))

I gave away all four of those and have made 4 more to take next week. One lady emailed me and told me her husband asked about the can and what it was for. He told her she would need a coffee can instead of the small peanut can. (Their son is the qualifier.) I offered to make her whatever size she would like.

I have ordered laminated prayer cards of the Serenity prayer and I give them away at meetings all the time. I share my experience, strength and hope but I also share little things I can make or buy. I got the cards at Abby Press and at the time they were about a nickel each. It was well worth the investment. You can also buy nickel cards from WSO of the serenity prayer. They are not laminated, but they are still handy to carry and give away.

Glad you enjoyed the idea. My God Boxes and God Cans have been very helpful to my recovery.
