Had a great day...got my work done and even volunteered some stuff to some other guys who work there...Good day; pleasant weather, work details done in rythym and with smiles. I like when life clicks like that makes it soooo easy to skip and play and laugh until.....get to the credit union and park my truck open the door and ooooops it touches the door of the van next to me. I get out and check the other vehicles door...nothing (to me) and I tell the passenger there isn't any damage in fact there isn't any indication of a hit....and then....theres grumbling from inside the van...deeper in the darkest regions of the van there is grumbling and growling and snarling and I get a hint that maybe it has something to do with me and the door but I've got enough confidence to walk away from what cannot be seen. However....the grumbling and growling voice has a body and the body has a cane and waving arms and ear that are not listening. It thinks it has found a tasty morsel and timid victim and then....NOT!! I found a fear based guy who got his switch turned on and wasn't interested in a door bump and only a invitation to fall off the cliff and part way thru it I get a thought force....Jerry F you've been had!! ...because I was joining in on the cat fight....God I just gave away the mood and serenity and so I shut the hell up and went into the credit union to do my business. Yeppers there were the faces of the people outside who watched the snit and I wasn't gonna react to that...do my deposit then go outside and do my apology. The passender still wasn't speaking....the growler wasn't accepting apologies...wanted more of the stage and then...there came the owner of the van...a reasonable man, a listener, a keeper of inner serenity an inventory taker who finally said...that didn't touch my door or paint it would have had to touch the door handle first...no problem. We shared thanks and acknowledgements that we had to live peacefully on this island together and that some old guys are just ready to grumble and act out and I was glad I wasn't going home with him and sorry the other guys was. Went for lunch and a paper and sat in my truck at the beach munchin, lunchin, readin and hoping the grumbler has a much better day. It works when you work it only not to perfection. Thanks for letting me share. ((((hugs))))
I love that you owned it and were accountable, let the grumbler grumble, because that is what they do and you although started to join in realized hold it, I know better than to give away my serenity and on you went with your day! I so love this share and your recovery journey! You are the best! Just what I needed to hear Jerry F! Sending you love and support!

Good one J. Today I finished up cutting my firewood- got it all barrowed and stacked in the back yard.Got the dogs walked along with madame... ...went shopping with madame and got 2 or 3 more brownie points...
Sometimes we aren't so lucky but you took the right approach with the situation at hand. Good lesson in stepping back, letting is calm down and then making it right.
Have a great new day my friend. (((( hugs ))))

Hi, J. Loved your example of enjoying your experience of the day and letting the man waving and grouchy experience his! Refusing to engage with him, try to change him, correct him, point him in a new direction, persuade him to see things your way - what a lot of angst and loss of serenity you saved yourself. Thanks for sharing your PnotP example.
