Got a new puppy and the girls are so happy about it. All my friends say are you crazy you live in an apartment and you are so busy, it's the last thing you need, blah, blah, blah. I laugh and say it won't affect you and I can handle it. I had to discuss it in length with my 15 year old and even my exAh, because the dog will have to go back and forth with the kids, because I won't be home much when school starts back up and he even said yes. We got her from the humane society and love the idea of saving her from maybe not finding a home, they had so many puppies there. My 15 year old talked me into it and I think it will be great.

Aww bless
Everyone said the same thing to me when we got a dog last year (a rescue, a giant husky) but he's just been wonderful and a great excuse for my girl and I to get out for walks, rain or shine.
Enjoy
Yes, I really look forward to walking her as she gets bigger with the girls and getting out with us all as a family and just love having a dog and have missed it. My exAH is even excited for it to travel back and forth and he has a huge great fenced back yard. So she is already a great addition and potties outside every time we take her out, she is so sweet and cuddly.

She is just too sweet!!! I always explain that puppies are a lot of work, and that it's like having another child. However, if you are a dog person you just don't care. I'm very honest about the responsibility, but I know the rewards and share that as well. Congratulations on your new addition!!!
My 15 year old who had to wake up to take her out 3 times last night, ha, named her Kiley. I love kids and animals so what is not to love here! Life is good and I am tired of putting things off for when some day everything is perfect, because we all know things will never be perfect and I am living in the moment and it works now. Life is good!

AWW, so sweet! She looks a lot like our puppy. He's 10.5 months old now and has been quite the handful but my 14 year old talked me into it, just like yours! Good luck, the first month is the hardest but it gets easier once a routine is established and we found the crate training to be a HUGE blessing for us. I've just started leaving him out in the house alone with all the bedroom doors shut, etc and he's done well. The longest I've left him is 5 hours. I'm not afraid of accidents because potty training was easy, I'm mostly afraid of him chewing stuff he's not supposed to chew like TV remotes, furniture, pulling trash out of the bathroom trash cans and ripping it to pieces, etc.
Yeah we have a crate and am hoping she gets used to it soon, she is a whiner. We have had to clean up all my 5 year olds toys and reorganize everything higher, but it needed to be done and I made my 15 year old agree to take on a majority of the responsibilities. She is such a great kid already, great grades, babysitting her sister and doing a great job with her, chores around the house and just overall such a sweet girl. So she deserves something extra and we are all loving having a baby puppy around. Potty training is going good and we are outside a lot this time of year. She won't be alone much.

BF love your comment about not waiting until everything is perfect I am VERY guilty of that - we are looking after my cousins dog just now 2 black Labradors ( 9 and 8 yrs) and a 6 month old spinal puppy and the house is filled with laughter and love
