happy to sad

Ya know, several days last week I felt SO much better, and today is not so good.  I am not coping well today and nothing REALLY horrible has happened.  I'm too new at feeling good and way too comfortable feeling bad.  So I'm thinking ODAT, reminding myself what I'm powerless over, tomorrow is my F2F, and everything can be OK.  I'm having a bad day.  Big deal.  Get over it.  Lyne

Feeling bad gets to be the norm and feeling good feels so strange. We wish for good days and when they come I don't know what to do and I dread what's coming next. ODAT works. (((Lyne)))

When I feel something unpleasant, I find that doing something physical like laundry, dishes, taking the trash out - any simple but not strenuous activity seems to help.

I used to be so sad and miserable and complain just because it was my habit, but thankfully I found al-anon and my attitudes and well about everything about me changes. I see things so differently, but it took time and I slipped and slid and fell back and got back up and started again. I usually start my day off with my attitude of gratitude unless I am running late, it sets my day up for a perky spirit within. I try to let myself feel my feelings than shortly thereafter let them go and move onto something different. I stay busy and on my slower days are the harder ones. Take care of yourself. Sending you love and support!

I like this post and love the responses because of the reminder when feeling bad was a habit...a default...no reason or justification...just what I did by habit.  Along comes program and with an open mind you hear solutions and witiness the tools of the fellowship and the alternatives to feeling bad get numerous.  An early morning attitude of gratitude...I seen and witnessed that happen sooo often I no longer doubt that it works most of the time for most of the fellowship.  I don't question why...I just do it.  My elder sponsor use to challenge my justifications for being sad and down and complaining.   I would tell him my justification and he would ask..."could you be wrong"??  LOL   I never felt so self centered, prideful, egotistical and arrogant to want to respond to that question with "NO".   Knowing I could be wrong was a set up for changing what I was doing even without a reason greater than it was just better and more healthy to feel happy.  Feeling happy is evidence to recovery.    ((((hugs)))) smile

Oh yea, like my running to the pool and having a hard swim or doing some chores out side or something.....activity produces "feel good hormones"  and any "movement" will do it.....I like to, when pool is closed, do dancing to my tunes....fantasize I am on my horse farm and I dance to the rythem of the music......it does make me feel better......
