The stillness of the morning, listening to the song of the birds, watching them teach there young to fly and feeding them so very gently, the color of the flowers, the smell of the cut grass, feeding squirrels and watching them protect there little ones, walking the beach and listening to the waves and considering the vastness of the ocean, the sky and my God.

Thanks for this thread Love to hear gratitude lists. I must add that before alanon I could "See" the beauty all around. Alanon gave me the tools to not only seeit but to feel itin the depths of my soul I am so very grateful for that as well.

And thanks for your "in the body" experience, too. It is so restful to sink more deeply into the center ourselves, isn't it? I just love the way you use water to help you enter into that quiet space. I love, too, the reminder steps you take to be mindful of your body, your surroundings, the air and how your scalp feels as your hair is massaging it with the help of the air. Music - ah - now that can lift my soul to the heavens, too - depending on what it is. Kenny G's musical ability is a stopper for me. When I listen to his musical arrangements - its as if I can do nothing else. I stop everything - almost physically paralyzed by the beauty of the music and his technical skill. He plays with his soul to my way of thinking. He becomes one with the music although he is not the music. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.
Thanks for adding some more reasons to give thanks to the bead necklace we are stringing of wisdom, truth and beauty. Bettina has also added the moon, Moms and night skies!

"Seeing the Holy in the Ordinary" is a subtitle to a book, A Tree Full of Angels, written by Macrina Wiederkehr.
This morning, after reading the MIP board - part of my daily Program work now - I went outdoors to put some bill payments into my mailbox. No one was outdoors. No mowers running. No autos being driven by. Just me, the sunshine, the warmth and the sound of my flip-flops popping on concrete and asphalt from and to the mailbox.
I heard the coos of mourning doves and the chirping of unseen, unknown birds, too. I could smell what I think is summer's scent as I felt the warmth of the air and saw the rays of sunshine lighting up the tiny blue, yellow and rose-colored flowers planted in a turquoise metal watering can that decorates my walkway. I found a purple vase in my garage, filled it with water, and took it back out to the can to water the flowers. As the water was poured, it parted the flowers and I could see the little gray elf I had actually forgotten was hidden under the green leaves.
I relaxed into the peace of what to me is the holy of the ordinary which truly isn't ordinary if I consider the science of atoms, cells, molecules and energy fields. The serenity of the morning's gifts that I have eyes to see and ears to hear and skin to feel is reason enough to give thanks for all that is and to believe that all will be well for me if I work my program and look for the holy in the ordinary.
Are there summer sightings and scents that help to increase your serenity and your sense of well-being?
I love this share and at times forget to enjoy the beauty of nature and all the little things in my surroundings! Great share for me to slow down and look around, thanks for the reminder, sending you love and support!

I will roll around in your beautiful share for a bit...reminds me of something Teresa of Avila said "Look for God in the details"....thanks for the reminder
oooooooooo! New wisdom to put in my memory bank. Thanks, PP. I really love seeing these kinds of additions. It's like storytelling only with wisdom and truth and beauty strung together like beads.
When my grandson was 3, I had to cross over a bridge at night with him in his little carseat in the back of the car. The moon was full. All of a sudden, he bursts out: "Oh, NANA!!!!! LOOK AT THAT RIVER!!! Oh, NANA!!! LOOK AT THAT MOON!!! I just knew the angels were clapping in the heavens when this little guy saw some of the wonders of HP's creation and drank it all in.
I am so glad you take your Mom out on the balcony to enjoy the beauty of the moon - with its stillness and its luminous white glow. Those are moments to treasure, aren't they?
WOW!!! Grateful, that is the best post describing being in the now and mindfullness of being not only in your body, but noticing whats around you
Isn't it great when that happens??? U actually can feel being in your body, totally connected w/your self AND mindful of the beauty mother nature created all around you
I just love this post.....makes me think about the 4th when I was at the local pool, swimming and I cold see my over hand stroke, my breath in my nose, out my mouth, the water carrassing the sides of my body as I cut through the water, hardly splashing at all..the "in and out" of my breath, my legs kicking.
It was gr8...I am practicing what you posted....just being mindful of me inside my body, when I walk, the lifting of ea. foot, the air between my foot and the floor, my fans blowing to augment the a/c and the wind going through my hair......
No bad or racing thoughts can invade my space when I am mindful of my breathe, my body, the beauty around me even the TX heat..
Your post shows that we, if we really are working our program can be just in the very moment
I just got up...stayed up late last night blasting my music and just enjoying some tunes I got from you tube...After my "brunch" I will perhaps go to the pool or just hang out at the house and enjoy my day
thanks for the lovely share....
