I got a sponsor...ON line...Many times in my going on 12 years of recovery....I just checked out the posts...ascertained whom I could relate to and asked...Now I got turned down, some, but didn't take it personally b/c sometimes people just can't for some reason, I knew they were "ok" with me, but just coldn't do it...However ea. sponsor I have ever had was on-line, then we exchanged phone #s and it worked great....I never found anyone in F2F meets that I wanted.....so SURE...online is fine...

Thank you for the replies! Being able to relate to the person is enough to ask? Do I need to see if the person has been long enough in the program, if he/she completed 12 steps? I am so new to this and I know I wouldnt be able to be a sponsor for anyone, but how would I know that the person is ready to be a sponsor for me?:)))))
Good Questions After you find the person that you feel you can connect with , it is acceptable to approach her and explain that you are looking for a sponsor and ask:
if she has a sponsor and has worked the Steps?
If she feels as if she is able to be a sponsor
Can she bring you through the Steps?
Being a sponsor is a sacred spiritual task and is not taken lightly Trust the process
