I'm uncomfortable with this. My fella tried to get help, but they said they couldn't help because it wasn't daily. It's been a year, or so I think, but the results are no different- no keys, no wallet, a pocket full of receipts, at least this time no car which means someone dropped him off. Hours of worry, hear beating out of my shirt, it's not the norm, not lately anyway, why today- threats of being done are obviously cast aside- my mom is my call and god bless she loves us both, but am I an angel or a fool for staying?
Dear Angle
Welcome to Miracles in Progress Alcoholism is a progressive disease over which we are powerless It can be arrested but not cured We who live with this disease become negatively affected by the trauma and fear of living with it Al anon is a program of recovery for people, like you who are terrified of what will happen next and not sure what to do.
Alanon has face to face meeting in most communities Please check out the white pages for the telephone number and call It is here I broke the isolation caused by this disease and learned new constructive tools to live by.
There is hope and you are not alone
You can "stay" focused on his problem or you can "go" focus on you and the life you want for yourself in Alanon. Much support. We've been there, are there or are getting there, so you'll feel right at home.
Aloha Angie and welcome to the board...It's good that you have found us because Al-Anon is the door way for your sanity and serenity. I am what is called a "double" I have membership in Al-Anon and in AA. I am a recovering alcoholic. If you want to do the best thing with him...get him the hotline phone number for AA in your area and tell him to call. If he is more willing to be sober than you are to get him sober he will embrace AA to that he can have a healthy life. Al-Anon should also be in the white pages of your local telephone book. If you call that number you will find out where and when we meet in your area and can come and learn how we self focus on our own recovery from the affects of someone elses drinking. Welcome again to the board....Keep coming back we are in support. ((((hugs))))
Thank you all for your words. It's unnerving not knowing what will happen next. I've looked into the meetings but have never gone. It's time to do something different though, because the status quo isn't working! Thanks :-}
