I had a voice message from a dear friend yesterday and I did not return the call. She has been a very good friend for 16 yrs but is an alcoholic and I could tell from her voice on the message that she was drunk. She got sober for a couple of yrs and then met & married another A...well, that pulled her right back into the depths of hell.
I feel bad for not returning the call but ya know, I don't need the drama. All I can say is God Help Her because I can't.
I like the slogan when in doubt don't .. it's usually my will that is getting in the way and I need to do a stop check inventory from the neck up.
If they are calling again .. they will call back .. the hardest thing to get rid of is an addict. I would def take a step back and question my own motives for wanting to make that call.

PS - Before Alanon I thought I HAD to make that call, .. now .. I take a breath and decide if it's something I really want to do or if I'm looking for validation outside of myself.

Whew. I just want to make a decision with out second guessing myself. But it will come, thank you all so much. If I don't have to call I'm not calling.
