The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
My AH sent me a long text, nothing much different that what he's done in the past, all about how he is sorry, he loves me, he feels worthless, he is a f'ng loser, on and on, BUT (big but) in the text, he said, "I know you don't want to hear my pity party, but.."
I nearly danced when I saw that. He may or may not get sober, but maybe, maybe, he is learning something from AA. Handing it over to my HP, but just had to share.
He certainly is learning something from your program huh? This is how I recognized that Al-Anon was working for me...when my alcoholic/addict started doing and saying things different. He's moving around his bottom...leave him there and don't even try to hoist him out. Let God and AA do that. Marvelous!! Keep coming back (((((hugs)))))
As Jerry said, leave it to your HP. My AH has said all those things and more and I've gotten my hopes up more times than I can count. But, trusting that my HP already has things figured out, makes me feel calm despite the storm. Just knowing that God has it figured out for me really takes a load off. So, watch what he does, not what he says, and keep working your own program. As time moves on you will see both AA and Al Anon at work for both of you and that is where true recovery is evident! Hugs to you, keep doing the next right thing for you!
