Today, I let it begin with me :)

Oh, thanks SJ!  What a beautiful example of the "Let It Begin With Me" slogan.  I don't think I've ever thought of it in that way.

Hi everyone,

My name is slogan_jim and I'd like to share on something neat that happened to me today.

I've been going through some issues of loneliness lately and today was such a beautiful day outside that it was just to nice to let it go to waste. I began texting a bunch of friends and all were busy. I began a pity party. I began to feel sorry for myself and put myself down. I began to get pictures in my head of my alcoholic father sitting alone in front of the TV as he always does. I began to get pictures of all my friends out having a ball and great times.

Then I made a decision. There has always been a park in my city that I've wanted to check out. So I got in my car and drove over. There was a nice garden that lead to a nice trail, which lead to a nice river. There were tons of people just out for a stroll. It was such a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the sound of the water flowing, it was such a serene experience!

It was something I wouldn't have experienced had I not let it begin with me !

Keep coming back.

I really enjoyed hearing this - I had a rueful smile as I do this a lot - think that everyone else is out enjoying themselves!

Great to hear about your lovely walk

rehprof - like the 'soiree of pity' - I'm going to use that myself when I need to snap myself out of it!

Makes me wonder how many gifts from my HP I've missed because I've been involved in my own pity parties. Thanks for a great share.
