alittle over 2 years ago when I found al-anon I was broken with no self esteem. I didn't have boundaries or even knew I should have boundaries. I was a miserable. dysfunctional, sad, victimized wreck of a young woman.
I am so proud to say I will be 35 years old this month, I just passed this semester of 5 classes in college with 4 A's and a B, 3 of those classes were hard sciences. I would never believe I could break free and accomplish anything like this ever in my life. I am a single mom teaching my children so many of lifes lessons and living some of them out right before their eyes. It is never too late to strive for your dreams. YOU are worth it, no matter who you are or what you come from. With some hard work, self love, growth comes with some self esteem and you can break the cycles of old and make new great choices towards whatever you choose! Thank you al-anon for this opportunity to live life and to hand over things that I can't control to give me the energy to handle what I can control and the wisdom to know the difference. I wish this feeling for all of you reading this the feeling that bigger better things are ahead and right in this moment you can do it and are so very wirthy of it! Sending you all love and support on your journey's. This overcomer is over the moon!!!!!!!! I will now be accepted into the RN program! Life is good!

Congratulations. I graduated at age 43 with a degree in biology. But I never took 5 classes in one semester. Whew, makes me tired to think of it. When did you sleep? You did a fantastic job.
I don't know the circumstances behind an acquaintence's divorce. I know she is very family oriented. This is almost a parallel to her story from what I've read in a post this month by her daughter. (Daughter entered in a Mother's Day contest.) Divorced when the kids were apparently alot younger. Worked 4 jobs to make ends meet then decided when they were a bit older to go back to school. She too is an RN and from what I know works mostly on the elders floor of a local hospital. Kudos for you!!! I, too, think you'll do great if you can handle that kind of load in a semester!!!
Earlier today I was driving my bus home and thinking of you - a song came to mind, the chorus of it at least, and how it fit with so many of us here. Barry Manilow no less, singing: I made it through the rain, and found myself respected, by the others who, got rained on too, and made it through. Breakingfree is really such an appropriate name for you, breaking free from the chains that held you down in "your place" for so long. Once again, congratulations!
