Hi! My computer has been down for a few weeks, but the disease is still alive and well. My grandson, who receives a ss check due a learning disability, turned 18 in March. His a/a mother have been living off these funds for the past 8 yrs. and taking care of her young a/abf with her foodstamps and sec8 housing.
My grandson finally had enough after she went into a rage and refuse to let him watch t.v. when he refuse to give her $5.00 to get cigarettes. (this was money he had just make by doing some work for me) She never give him any money from his check.
He is staying with a friend for now, he will probably end up with me. He is struggling to finish high school next year, I told him he can stay with me. He want to become his own payee for his check, I don't want to get involved with my daughter, but it look like I'll have too. The last time he stayed with me I took care of him and let his mom keep the check, he ask me if I would help him be made payee or if I would be his payee, I agreed to help him.
This disease has taken over my daughter's life completely as well as her 26 y.o. son, they are both very sick and getting worse.
I'm trying to help this grandchild stay on tract, I told him I'll help him as long as he is helping himself, I'll not enable him.
I'm happy to be back on board, I've been going to meeting and working my program.
