the founders of alanon

I think it's amazing that this program actually exists and works. I mean it is common sense really in lots of ways but for it to be so straight forward and clear. Did the people who wrote the steps and traditions know what an impact they would make? Also, it doesn't get enough credit. I know lots of people who could use it.x

A great topic, El-Cee,

I bought a copy of "When Love is Not Enough" from out of Bill and Lois' garage at Stepping Stones

two years ago. Being there was an awesome experience. For many years , I guess, I had adopted them

as my mum and dad. For me it had become a personal relationship. At Stepping Stones I learned that

I was a part of a large world-wide family. It was a great rite of passage. I cannot speak highly enough

of the old-timers. -D. smile

Right on post el-cee.  I agree there are many who could have more peace of mind and serenity in their lives from working this program...and then...it's their choice.  Our steps and traditions are derived from AAs' steps and traditions which are also derived mainly from within the Oxford movement and then overtime evolved within practice, practice, practice.   Get the history books and pamphlets from both programs and other literature and see how we came along.  There are movies "When love is not enough" and such which are also available.  I got and took one opportunity to see Lois Wilson the co-founder of Al-Anon when she visited my home meeting before her death.  She was very peaceful and kind.  (((hugs))) smile

So so true...I have often said that all people would be easier to deal with if they practiced the 12-steps!
