My mom and I had a fairly cathartic talk today

My mom and I had a pretty good carthartic talk tonight... I told her I was sorry for the regretful things that I had said to her because I was so upset and angry over her drinking. Is this one of the Twelve Steps? making amends? she asked me if I thought she had gotten better I said yes and no. She's going back to work, her rehab for getting her knre replaced is going better. As for her drinking I think it has its good days and bad ones.... she got upset over that... I told her that I want her to be happy again and healthy again. Please HP, please speak to her heart and open her eyes to her drinking. break the chains of depression. Amen. Thanks for listening.

i can only speak my esh but when i talk with compassion yet honesty to my sober abf he responds better than  when i attck then the disease wins and we are to busy fightingeach other to fight against it!!!!

It is so hard to admit we are powerless, so is the drinker hopefully she will become depressed enough to reach for hps hand rather than the bottle.  take care sounds like you are doing amazing.  I just suggests as many meetings, reading and phone calls as possible to get the support for you hp will help your mother hugs tracy xxxxxx

It was strange...when I was talking with her, I felt this sort of peace from my HP come over me, it was amazing!!! How does telling my AM that I regret the things I said to her help her in her road to step #1? I don't understand... what step # is this in the 12 step process?

In my humble opinion, your amends to her doesn't help her.... it helps YOU!! The peace you felt was YOUR peace.

When you keep your side of the street clean we call it doing step 10.... when we do something that we know is wrong we promptly admit it (and then we say we are sorry).
