Was feeling a bit down in the dumps this morning - knew I had a lot to do around the house that my STBXAH left unfinished before he went to rehab - and now will never do since he chose to move in with his mistress.
So I went and picked up dog messes, gave the grass and trees a good soaking, and, all by my darn self, fixed the spare bathroom toilet that had been broken for six months.
Used to do things by myself all the time when I was on my own and in my own little house before we met. Toilets, light switches, painting, gardening, climbing on the roof and turning on the swamp cooler in the summer. Then, when we got married, I let him help me because he felt it was important for me to trust someone else.
It worked for a while until his drinking got worse and worse, then of course nothing got done - and I got yelled at about it! Insanity, pure and simple. That's what I get for not taking care of myself and the house.
Now I'm taking my own power back - and to think it all started with fixing the loo! LOL
Of course, I will be having someone help me with the big jobs - cleaning out the rain gutters (I really don't like getting on ladders), finishing the painting in the house, organizing the shed and the garage, but this is a BIG moment for me.
Hope you all have a great day. How will you take YOUR power back?
I have to laugh because my AH is not very handy and neither am I. But, I am the one who picks up the dog poop, takes care of the pool, fertilizes the plants, trims the bushes, washes the decks, washes the windows inside and out, etc. AH will sometimes do a few organizing projects but he mostly just helps with laundry. AH most recently accused me of not caring about anything around the house and I almost spit out my gum cracking up laughing. The insanity of the disease befuddles me. Yeah, that's me, the neglectful housewife. The house had just been vacuumed, dusted, toilets cleaned, dishes done, and dog walked but apparently I don't care?! Oi!
Well, good on you, Blondie! If you feel inspired feel free to come to Phoenix and help me out with some of my work. I need to put up some wire fencing alongside my side yard where I have view fencing to help keep rattlesnakes out of the yard. I asked AH to do it 2 months ago, he didn't even look at it. I bought a 2 x 6 piece of wire that I think will work and I trimmed it and fitted it around some of the fencing and he still hasn't offered to help. So, if you are handy and want to help, let me know, LOL!!!
