Any grandparents out there

I'll try to make this short. Tomorrow is custody court for my beautiful almost 1 year old granddaughter. She was removed from my AD because the babies father reported her to the police for being drunk-it was a good thing because she eventually got into rehab and has made an amazing turn around (long history here-her relapse was triggered by the prosecution of her childhood molester). Anyways baby's father is controlling and vengeful (she is in a new healthier relationship). He and I have had joint custody the last 6 months-I did not file for custody as he seems to be a good father-I did file for visitation. Well he saw her boyfriend's car at my house and has kept the baby from me for two weeks-a violation of the court order. He claims he fears for her safety, but I know it is a control issue. Now I'm worried because I didn't go for custody (GAL and court thought I should) and fear my AD will have her past held against her. Anyone else experience a similar situation?

Sounds to me like timing is everything!!! If you're going to custody court tomorrow, and he has violated the court order... can this not come up and can you not change your mind about going for custody or at least joint custody? (and no, I'm sorry I have not had a similar situation but when I read your post my heart went out to you but I feel hopeful for you and your beautiful granddaughter and your recently happier/healther Daughter... ~~blessings to all of you~~ good luck tomorrow!

He is trying to say I violated the no contact order with my daughter-when they did the continuance so she could finish treatment- I asked the GAL if my AD daughter's bond was lifted by the other court could she see the baby. GAL say yes, but Dad is falling back on the orignal no contact which wasn't changed-but I thought the GAL would know the legal. So it is kind of a toss up BUT-I agree about the timing-up till this point there were no real problems-he was on his best behavior, but now he is showing his other side.

I fought for custody of my grandaughter and it was a hard thing to do...but I had to fight against my own daughter.   The first time I just had temporary custody and daughter was doing counseling at the time through the CPS.   I asked the counselor to please help me get something legal because I was afraid my daughter would get my grandaughter and take off.   He(counselor)  told me she (daughter) was doing very well in counseling and he didn't think she would do that.   I told him she would tell him what he wanted to hear and then do the opposite.  Sure enough, 1 week later while I was at work she went by my house and told my younger daughter she wanted to take her to the park.....she left town and was gone several months.

Long story, but I had brain sgy and all and when the Dr told me I could drive around the block, my daughter called from Tn (I live in Tx) and asked me to come and get her.  Also the CPS there had called me and said if I didn't they would take her.    I drove out and got her and came back.   She is now 24.

I would definitely be contacting someone about his not bringing her to see you.  This needs straightened out.

My prayers are with you.  This is a tough situation.

(((Hugs)))

Just to let you know court went well-other than he tried to make me look bad as well as anyone on our side of the family, but the judge and GAL could see through him. We got visitation and my recovering AD got joint legal and vistation with a chance for more in 90 days. We will get to see our angel this weekend :) Thanks for the support. BTW Let GO and Let God was my mantra for the last couple of days. In gratitude.
