My son and me

Good Morning everyone

I called my son last night and we had a nice talk.  He was sober so it was nice.

We talked about him and AA and he has decided not to attend which I was disappointed about this but it's his decision.

What I have have to do is change more.   I don't need to avoid him anymore.  I need to except who he is and go on with good boundries in place.

I will not enable

I will not talk or visit with him if he's under the influence.

I will not talk at all about his problems.

Respect his decisions to take care of himself the way he see's fit.

I continue with my program no matter what anyone says.

Just because I think he has a problem I'm not going to avoid him because it just makes our relationship more strained.  With good broundries in place and with him knowing them or needing a reminder whenever. we will get along and I can see him more.  If not I walk....simple.

Everyone says what works for us.....so this is my plan.  It's not right or wrong...its what I want. If it don't work I change my plan  :)

PS:  I'm going to go visit my son today and I'm taking him out to dinner.  Happy to see him ...been a few weeks.

Prayer and program will keep my serenity in place and my mouth shut  lol

Cathy, I'm happy for you, your plan sounds great, I can relate to you. I have an unhealthy, codependant relationship with my son, I hope one day to be where you are.

It truely is one day and one step at a time.  The program is graceful and full of mercy...I can change my journey at anytime I need.  You seem to have gotten how it works also.  Keep on keeping on.  (((hugs))) smile

I have to says prayers to thank HP tonight for a VERY nice time I had. It was so nice to be with my son....him sober....and just enjoying his company. We laughed and talked about all kinds of things. I find he is still seeing his sponsor and tomorrow they have a meeting to work on steps...so he hasn't given up completely on AA. This sponsor is a great guy to come to Will and help him.

Yes one day and one step at a time..... :)
