VERY grateful for my program right now

My AH was in a fight tonight.  He bowls on Wednesday nights, and usually gets home around 1:00.  When I woke up at 2:15, he still wasn't here.  He rolled in around 2:30, and told me all about the fight he was in with some guy from work (not a guy he actually works with...just a guy who works in a different area for the same company) because the guy was "running his mouth" about this, that, and the other thing.  There were a lot of things that ran through my mind, but I didn't react or make any commentary (not even when he declared he was stone-cold sober, despite smelling like a brewery gone bad).  Yes, I think this behavior is incredibly stupid and immature, and could very easily land him (or anybody) in jail.  But I kept to my side of the street, and I am grateful for how far I've come in the last two years thanks to Al Anon and MIP.  I was able to use my tools to keep my own anxiety about the whole thing to a minimum, and leave his actions to him.  If he chooses to behave this way, it's his business and the consequences will be what they will be.

Yay Stephaniej...great to see how the programme works for us all. Loved that you knew he was drinking but didn't even question him, (like they ever would admit it) saves alot of wasted energy trying to get them to admit they were drunk. Good for you staying on your side of the street and remaining calm. great esh.
