Annoyed

I had a friend rip into me tonight about my ex.  He got mad at me because his sister informed him (she is a very good friend of mine as well) that I called Child Protective Services on my ex when I found out he was addicted to painkillers and couldnt take care of his 5 year old son.  Now this friend is not friends with my ex - he is just a good friend of mine who told me to never date my ex in the first place and got mad at me when I did.

I denied that I called CPS - and said what if I had?  He called me a vindictive ex-girlfriend and I got so angry.  I responded with obviously someone calling CPS on a parent has the best interest of the child in mind - and cares about the child.  I said I'm glad someone called CPS because that 5 year old child cannot defend himself and obviously neither parent really has his best interests at heart if they are both doing drugs, or selling drugs, AND getting arrested for it (which his mother spent time in jail for).  He just defended my ex - calling him a druggie and a loser and I knew it from the first minute I started to date him.

I swear I am so aggravated right now - he did this in front of all my friends.  What was the point of that!!!

Hang in there cyn. Remember to turn the focus back on you and come to the moment you are in NOW.

You are right that anyone who calls CPS is doing so because they are trying to protect a child who in unable to do that for him/or her self. I commend whoever did call for acting like a wise adult looking after and thinking about someone else.

I hope you are feeling better today.

Linda

********This is not necessarily always true.  I had someone call cps on me only because I turned them in to their probation officer because they were getting high every night and having my husband/a at their home getting high with them.  I warned this person that if I found out it happened again I would turn him in, and I followed though.

That was the only reason they turned me in with nothing but a bunch of lies.  The case was investigated, marked as unfounded and closed but nonetheless it was very nerve wracking for me.  To know that someone has the ability to actually take your kids away from you is very scarey and intimidating, to say the least.

This person paid for what they did however and ended up spending a little over a year in jail for their probation violation.  Oh well.

People need to check their motives for calling cps on someone because there are times they use the system to be spiteful or vindictive and to me that is unforgivable.
