So a little while ago I recieved a text message from mom saying she was sorry and she is ok and wondering if she can come get her phone charger and medication in the morning. She also said she is going to AA mettings in the afternoons. I hope this is true because she needs help. At least for today I know she is ok and this takes some weight off my mind. Hopefully I will get some rest tonight and wont dwell on the fact that I will have to face her tomorrow. I still can't pick up the phone to call my local Al Anon chapter, I think I feel shame or something at having a mother with this problem. We will see how tomorrow goes.
Aloha z28...swap your fear for love when you Mom shows up...its a better tool. Also swap your fear of calling Al-Anon for self-love and get yourself into the rooms. The same concern you have for your mom regarding AA meetings applies to you and the Al-Anon meetings. Alcoholism is cunning, powerful and baffling and has absolutely not prejudice about who and how it affects. It is a fatal disease which cannot be cured. It can only be arrested by total abstinence. Keep coming back ((((hugs))))
The rooms helped me to overcome my fear, guilt and shame of not being more normal, perfect or God himself able to fix my A's. I hope you can make it soon, it changed everything for me with time. I used to be so judgemental of everyone including myself before this program and now I can see more clearly and I feel powerfully humble and able to be open, honest and vulnerable without the fear for the most part. I am making amazing deep friendships and able to have compassion with boundaries for my A's whom I love and always will. Sending you much love and support!
