Re-learning the 3 C's

I've just had to re-learn these, having been in turmoil for a number of months. No I can't control it, No I didn't cause it, No I can't cure it. This includes those who do not tax their car, get certificate of roadworthiness, my son's school life, my son's criminal activity in the past, people he has hurt in his addiction, things that have happened to him in his life. Colleagues irresponsiblities, schedules, indiscretions, gossip, it feels goods and I feel a lot more upbeat than I have for some time.

I know you have probably heard about "staying in our hoolah hoop." It's doesn't just apply to stuff that is none of our business. I think it applies to stuff that we have no control over also. If I function within my limited influence (inside my hoolah hoop), I am much more effective, at peace, and not trying to be more than I am capable of being. Of course this overlaps greatly with the 3 C's because it's all just tools to recognize powerlessness - The serenity prayer says it all as well.

I'll keep learning with you, my friend. This is a great reminder to stop making myself responsible for stuff I was never even responsible for, my over-responsibility. That takes a load off, al-anon is the best weight-loss program out there.

I needed this today, thank you!

Love the (3) C's... We Spoke of them Last Night at our Meeting and as it got going, a Friend of Mine said that when she is Going thru the C's she also adds "Contribute" And she Ask herself, Can I Control it? Can I Cure it? Did I Cause it? Did I Contribute? and tho its not one of the Origanals it still adds another tool to my toolbox... Because if "I" Am Part of My "A's" Addiction and I "Contribute" then I Need to Take My Own Stuff Back and Leave them with theirs... I think for Me this will come in Handy when I'm reminding myself of the Boundry's I at times Seem to Forget, or not stand strong enough on...

I Love the C's...And as ((Pink)) Memtioned the Serenity Prayer Also can pull me out of the ick long enough to catch my breathe, and stand within my Hoola Hoop and say... "Right Here! Right Now! In this Very Moment.. I'm OK!" All things that Help so Much when the Blame Games Begin, and I try and put on my Supergirl Cape & Change the World one "A" at at time! I have Hung Up my Cape for Good now I Hope! and the Only World i'm Focusing on Saving Is Mine...

Keep Coming back :) & Thanks again for the C's Reminder... They are yet another Blessing in Al-Anon/ACOA :)

Jozie

Thank you so much for sharing.  I can definitely get into the colleagues and bosses irresponsibilities.  I am a really big people pleaser and I have to work daily on not stepping in and doing something that is not my business to take care of.  I do notice these things because they certainly affect me but my life daily is a matter of making better choices rather than martyrdom choices which is my aboslute norm.

Maresie.
