The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
And I'm very happy to say there is a AL Anon group near me and I am attending my first session next week. Finally, A working programme that will bring some sanity and structure to my life after a long time of uncomfortable feelings and urges that swallowed me up and not knowing why.
From my early twenties, after being involved with sex/alchohol/drug addicted people, I have since felt the need to be involved with those whose can dance the same pain in order to win the struggle of Love and acceptance I so desparetley needed. And I see a long time of coping and acting out strange behaviours that was destructive and not working.
It took my recent last relationships and Eckhart Tolle to see just how my shadow crept in and why. My relationship choices were designed to bring out the worst in me in order to heal.
It's looking good from here now. I can't wait to get started! But I'm a bit nervous at my first upcoming attendance so if anyone has any soothing words it would be most welcome

There are alot of super people who understand like few others. The love and support you find here is amazing. I am also fairly new here, and started face to face meetings about 6-7 weeks ago. I was so nervous before going but knew that I had to go...its the action part for me of my programme. I live in the UK and we dont have many meetings in my area.
When I arrived i was so nervous, I can laugh now I sat down in the aa meeting lol. But when I first went into the al-anon room I thought these people wont understand, they all seemed so happy and serene...and older lol. But after the first few meetings I felt a special bond to them and after the first meeting I said to myself this is my homegroup, what a great feeling to feel I belonged. The warmth you receive as a newcomer is amazing. To be accepted and to be heard is so liberating. Everybody is nervous when the walk through the door, but if your ready to start your recovery it will be the best gift you will give yourself. Like we say it works if you work it and your Worth It!!!!

Love can be easy and free. It doesn't have to always be so gut wrenching, dramatic, and hard. That's one thing to look forward to in your future relationships if you work the program. More so, whatever you thought you needed so bad from relationship, you will be able to provide most of that for yourself. Hence, the relationships you do have will be more healthy. This will happen, if you work for it.
I attended my first meeting a couple weeks ago. I have gone to 2 meetings so far, one with 2 different groups. Both meeting everyone was very friendly. I didn't speak at either of the meetings but there is no pressure to do so. I was glad that I went. Even just sitting and listening, it was helpful. Glad you found us and keep coming back.
Welcome and please keep comming back. This site has offered me so much comfort and guidance. My meetings are great, and have helped me beyond words. But at 3:00 a.m. when there arn't any meetings and my AW is passed out and I feel alone, lost and confused this site has allways been open to me and has been a LITERAL LIFE SAVER! Al-Anon is a wonderful fellowship that really does work. Again welcome
