Amazing what quiet will do

I've been in a "mood" for about half a week.  I've been irritable, nit-picky and my favorite line "I can't stand to be around myself".

Not in a beat myself up way, but I am trying to be more self aware.  I haven't been feeling this way in awhile and I have the ability to either figure it out, or let it get out of control.  I opted for the former.

I've spent the last 2 days asking myself over and over "what's going on, why are you feeling this way" waiting for the response.  But I have a hectic life.  Work, kids who have to be gotten off to school very early in the morning, then homework and nighttime routine then often I relax with "noise".  TV, computer, talking on the phone, etc.

This morning I got up, started with the radio show and then shut it off! I drove to work in dead silence and told myself to sit there and figure this out LOL.  I DID finally get my a-ha moment and as always I've been letting something slide instead of facing it and all I needed to do was acknowledge it and decide how to move forward and now I'm in a great mood LOL.

Sometimes I just forget that quiet brings a lot to my life.

Thank you so much for sharing. My AH will be gone for the next 6 days and I am planning on some quiet time myself. He likes to always have the TV going or the radio on in his office and there's always noise in our house. I am sooooo looking forward to not having to listen to Foxnews going in the background every day. Since he works from home and I homeschool AT HOME, there isn't much freedom in our home, for either one of us.

Isn't it amazing what that quiet time will do for the soul?

Thanks for sharing,

I find when I drive in the morning I also put the radio on silent or on jazz/classical if I want some noise. I find it very relaxing. I take the train into work now, but when I drove in it was about a 40 minute drive. Great way to start the morning and reflect on the day ahead.

We often find our HP "in the quiet." Thanks for reminding me.

I find relief and peace in the quietness as well. I've been finding myself more and more turning things off and enjoying the silence. Life is too hectic no matter where you turn....why not take a few minutes each day to completely relax......
