I've had a great night. I went to my f2f Alanon meeting and only one other meeting member showed up. We talked a lot about grieving the past and embracing the present and living fully in it. Her hubby died sober last year with many many years. It happened while my recovering abf was just getting to know him, visiting with him in his home during his last months and the guys had also brought the meeting to the house when he could no longer come to them. Their group lost another guy two weeks ago with many years of sobriety. My sponsor had been his wife's sponsor and he'd given her his wife's CAL when she passed away. We attended his memorial.
So after my Alanon meeting, I went for fellowship with my bf and the guys in his aa group. I gotta tell ya, no matter how long sober, a conversation these guys have can still lead to chatting about drinks and alcohol even if they can't drink them anymore! I told them as much and laughed. They laughed too! Now, one of these guys I think is a real ladies man because he just loves it when I join them on occassion, sits next to me and keeps me up to speed as they reminisce. He's eighty something and has a younger lady friend. Well, it turned out that he had gotten his twenty eight year chip tonight and was proud to show it to me. His friend across the table had presented it to him. They met in rehab and been keeping one another on track ever since then with hp sitting between them I suppose! Both are in their eighties now. It can happen! :) Thanks for letting me share with you and for being another good part of my night. Hugs. TT

Sounds awesome and encouraging. I have still debating on going to A.A. meetings since there are lots more around here to attend then Al-anon. Thanks for the post.

I love small alanon meetings. It is amazing how true it is that all we need is two people to make a meeting. So happy that you experienced that.
AA is certainly a very special organization. My husband died sober after 6 years in AA and his home group also brought the meeting to our home near the end. It was certainly inspiring.
Such a special post Tired...the other side of the fence of alcoholism; nothing to be fearful about anymore with just open love and support to live within. Its amazing and encouraging that what is going on with you in your life and your time and your world is happening here in like manner also with the same outcome...peace of mind and serenity and life running along and ticking like a pocket watch hanging from a gold chain from HP's belt. Today is a gratitude day from the moment I came into the site this morning. What a bestest way of waking up. Mahalo MIP!! ((((hugs))))
