What in heavens have I been missing?

I have just recently joined this forum and the chat and O MAN have I learned a lot. It is a complete new way of thinking. I guess I am really working on Step 1 and realizing that I am truly powerless. This morning I found my AH passed out in our garage when I woke up to get ready for work. I count on him to watch our 3 yr old daughter. As soon as I saw him, I knew I would not be going into work. So I called off, thank the Lord for giving me a very understanding boss! She is such a blessing. Anyways, everyone has been telling me about how I can't control the situation, or my AH. They have also told me that being angry about it is really only hurting me and wasting time and that I need to accept him flaws and all. Boy did God give me a lesson today. Back to this morning---I made sure he was physically safe, got him in bed, and left him there. I got up and had one of the BEST days with my daughter. The peak of my day is when we went on a nature walk and my beautiful three year old ran after this little cricket and caught it!!! We spent a couple of hours at least looking at cool things that the Lord has given us in nature. I was so GRATEFUL. And I realized 3 weeks ago, I would have wasted my day being down in the dumps, screaming and yelling, trying to make my AH feel as miserable as he could get. Instead I made some incredible memories with my baby girl! We painted, we had a picnic, we went on our nature hunt, we painted some letters I have been planning on doing for the past few weeks on her walls. God is good and if I let go, I can have a happy life!!!!

Thank you for that beautiful message.  Your ESH is so inspiring and a powerful example of how we can" Be Happy even if the alcoholic is still drinking or not."

Please keep using your program.    You deserve to maintain the serenity, courage and wisdom that you had today.

Aloha Sister...whatever you have been missing you might have found again quite quickly.  Good to have you hear and great to read your share.   Keep coming back and go find the hot line number for Al-Anon in your area (from the white pages of your local telephone book) and call to find out where and when we get together and are saving a seat for you.   ((((hugs))))  smile

I definitely spent years resenting the now ex A.   I got stuck with our dogs because he didn't want them. There isn't a day that I don't see that as an incredible blessing as they have cured me of all the terrible loneliness I used to have.

Maresie.
