a card for myself

Hi all,

I was shopping the other day and saw a card that read

WHEN YOU HAVE MASTERED YOURSELF THEN YOU HAVE MASTERED LIFE.

I bought the card and intended to give it to my sober ABF who is just coming out off avery big slip.  However I have grown a lot the past couple of months and realised that ithis is what I need to know so I wrote the card to myself and dated it with todays date.

 I wrote

18/9/12

been in recovery for five years in Nov.  I finally realise its all about me.  I am responsible for me my behaviours, actions, attitudes, feeling, choices etc. I have spent five years getting to know me, where i have come from.  I have needed to come out of denial slowly about mu family and childhood.  Its not about blame we all did the best with what we had.

So as from today i have to accept the past and the things i can not change or control.

I need to pray for the courage to change the things i can.  Work on me, learn how to master myself with the help of HP and support of recovert family.  Eveyone else is on their own journey, responsible for themselves, I must hand them over and trust.

I feel so blessed to have recieved the gift of recovery from my HP and feel as though my hard work is starting to have positive outcomes.

just wanted to shre my growth.

hugs tracy xxx

Love it! Very powerful. You checked your motives and realized that the card meant more to you than it might have to your A. You really are in recovery.
