Stressed out

I'm stressed out. And probably starting to get depressed.

I've not progressed enough on my PhD to pass the first year and will write up what I've done for the past year as an MPhil, still a good qualification.  I've been given 3 months money from the university to do this. Its been a massive shock I left a good job, took redundancy (means I have no debt now though haha). Now I'm looking manically for jobs too. I've got 4 job applications for scientist positions which closed a couple of weeeks ago, so should hear in a week or so if I've got interviews.

The stress levels are high, the kids are back at school (but I've got closer to my youngest daughter, who's 5, as I had some problems bonding with her a year or so back. Things are good now, really good), my partner is working full-time, but drinking. She's feeling sad because stress levels are high, she's unhappy with her drinking (she drinks every day. 'secretly' in the bedroom). Her mum has recently taken quite ill and is due to come out of hosptial after being in IV antibiotics for a recurring bladder infection (she's 80 and losing her balance and isn't all there mentally actually - she may not have long to go.)

God it's stress at the moment.

I'm trying to keep things together but I'm fearful of slipping into the depression again - I have bouts of recurring depression sometimes (reactive depression) ... but I don't want the meds, they make me feel a bit fuzzy and 'blunted' ... just need some support please. :(

not been to a meeting in a while, missed one last night, hope to get back to them.

Sounds like a lot of stress for anyone to handle, but it sounds like you are taking it as good as you can. When I was getting depressed I dove into meetings and talking with my sponsor, reading Al-anon literature and posted here lots. It helped! I am sending you love and support!
