Daughter just released yesterday from hospital after suffering severe alcohol withdrawal.

Mod...welcome. I have just started coming on here. I am glad you are starting to attend the meetings they are great! As for your daughter, she has to discover her own path. We can only lead and encourage but if they choose not to go that is their own free will entirely. Again welcome. HUGS.

Trying to learn everything I can online about detachment because I think I have been enabling her.  She was in the hospital for 3 days with dt's.  While recovering, she said she definitely wanted to change and attend a treatment center.  After i picked her up and brought her to our house, she stayed just a few minutes until her boyfriend picked her up and took her to his place.  Talked to her a few times this morning and offered to drive her to an AA meeting, but she didn't want to go.  Planning on attending al-anon mtg this evening for the first time.

Hi Mod, and welcome....  I trust that your daughter knows she can get your help to get to an AA meeting when/if she decides to go....

We have an old saying we use quite a bit around here:

She will either drink (or attend AA, or choose recovery), or she won't.... what are YOU gonna do?

Time to choose recovery.... for YOU.  You're definitely worth it, and Al-Anon can help you, regardless of what decisions your daughter makes going forward.

I'd also recommend you try the book "Getting Your Children Sober", written by Toby Rice Drews.

Hope that helps

Tom
