What Books Do you Recommend?

I am not sure what books to start with? My S/O isn't actively drinking, or using. He just has severe depression & some of the behaviours I have read (sounds like he exhibits an addict traits). Does that make sense?

So the book Getting Them Sober ~ would I benefit from it? Can I order it online, or would I have to have an Al Anon worker provide me the book?

There are all kinds of great books available from the Al-Anon / AA website, and yes, Getting Them Sober can be ordered online from www.gettingthemsober.com

Getting them Sober is a great book and I've read it at least 3 times, I probably need to read it again. Also, any of the Al Anon readers. I've gotten a lot out of reading "Codependent No More" by Melody Beattie and "Under the Influence". What kind of books are you looking for? Books on recovery? Or books on understanding alcoholism? I've read too many, LOL, and I'm still stuck as a codependent. Guess I need to hit the books again!

Getting Them Sober is a great book. It should be required reading for all 5th graders. LOL I think it is useful for anyone and is a great place to start. As mentioned, Melody Beatie's book Codependent No More is also a great one. I started with Al-Anon's Courage to Change. It's a daily reader and taught me a lot. You can order it from Al-Anon or find lot's of used books on Ebay, Alibris, or any of the used book sites. Just search Al-Anon.

Personally I would just pray about it and then pick something and go from there. LOL But I had to learn to live with faith, even though the form my Higher Power takes is often elusive to me. LOL
