my sister, only sister that i have here in this town is acting crazy i dont know what to do,she takes suboxin, which is a medicine to keep u off opiates and she was in a really bad car wreck over a year ago that broke her neck which she had major surgery,i went to with her to watch her beautiful baby girl cheer at a football game was my 1st time to see her and my sisters 1st time to even make it and her 13 yr old was so happy to us there, then toward the last 10 mins of the game my sister flips and gets up off the bleachers and goes to the fence and calls her little girl to the fence and takes her by the ear,and pulls her down bythe ear and hollers for her to off the feild right in tyhe middle of their cheering.im flabergasted and shocked and humiliated and at the point of tears a very small school maybe 10 cheerleaders in all,my sis, does that in fron of the families and her 13 y/o freinds,we all get up and walk away,my sister said she got smart with her, while out there ,i feel so sorry for my neice,i texted her last nite and told her i loved her and asked if all was ok,she said yes that her mom had gone to bed,i had talked to my sis on ph. last nite and told her how i felt that there was no excuse for that and that the parents would prolly call dhs on her and she said ,no dhs would tell her how to raise her kids,i hung up on her cause she was sounding so messed up that she could barely talk ,slurred speech, thick tongue wasnt talking right, just not herself i dont believe she would have never done that in her right mind,i left as soon as i got to my car.i dont know whats gonna come of this,as of yet.i hope she gets a knock on her door, but im also scared she maybe haveing swelling of the vrain from the wreack they never took a scan of her head, she was just acting really funniy wierd the day before,i shouldve called 911 then.but thought id get her to lay down to sleep then i got to thinking well what if she dont wake up and she has a brain memorrige,im scared ,i dont know what to do,im all she has here in this town or anywhere for that matter.i need esh plz, gonna call my counselor 1st thingin morning.thanks for listening to all this ,sorry for long post, just needed to share.yes,i have alot on my plate too.too much.thanks agin hugs silent

I'm so sorry this is happening - this is a lot to deal with.  Whether the problem is the drugs or the head injury sure is unclear - or God forbid it could be both.  But it's wonderful for your poor niece that you are in town.  I think if I were in your position I would find someone at Children's Services or in the social work department to talk to.  Because it's not just this one incident, I'm sure.  Whether she's having problems with the drugs or whether the head injury is affecting her, it is probably a long-term problem.  So your sister needs the right kind of support and even more urgently, your niece needs the right kind of support.  Remember that a study found that the thing that helps kids come through bad situations is one responsible adult giving them love and support.  It sounds as if that responsible support is you.  (Just as an aside, I suspect it must have been your HP working, that you got your A out of the house so recently so you could live a free life and be there for those who need you like your niece!  What a wonderful thing that you are there for her!)  Apart from consulting people who know how to handle these situations in terms of the law and the system, it sounds to me as if the most important thing is to keep the channels of communication open with your poor niece.  She has so much to deal with.  Maybe she would be open to an Ala-teen meeting if you could take her to one?

Hugs.
