convention

Hi all,

I went to the liverpool (in England)AA convention yesterday.

I love it I have so many friends in al anon and AA , I love it when we all come together.  there were not many Al anon members whcih is a shame seems to be same old faces at conventions (so members just like comfort of their groups) There were one or two new comers.  I feel comfortable no matter which al anon group I go to.  I was asked to share on the top table.  I really did not want to as I shared last year and though people will be fed up of hearing my story.  However I said yes and handed it over to HP.

I had heard all the members on top tables shares before however they were differnt.  I tried to share my growth.

When we put it out to the floor an old timer started to cry, she said she had heard us all sjshare before and it was amazing to witness our recoveries, how far we can come.  I do put my recovery first and I really want to give something back.  Today my shares are differnt they are more about what I am learning and less about the alcoholic.

Today I believe slowly that I matter and that I am worth talking about and I could talk about al anon all day lone.

hugs tracy xx

Hi Tracy!

Wonderful!  I love conventions too.

This weekend I will be attending one of my favorites for the 9th consequtive year!!  I love see all my old friends there as well as making the new ones.

I have seen the Al-Anon meetings there in just 8 years grow from 5-10 of us stuck in a tiny little room, to over 100 people in a large conference room last year.  And a great part of it that is so many AA members are coming in to hear what Al-Anon is about. And our Al-Anon speakers are filling the room up just like the AA speakers now.

I am excited about this weekend!  Thanks for sharing and getting me pumped up even more!! smile

David
