If you've been thru alcoholism you can...

take a tooth pulling...LOL  (((MIP))).  It's true...there is "some" pain; it's located only in one small spot; once the tooth is gone the cause of the pain is gone and I remind myself the pain is very temporary whereas alcoholism just seems to go on forever.  The dental people are all sooo young, like they are just out of high school?  Strange; felt like I was on another planet where old people are aliens...Brought the broken bridge and tooth home with me..."now what in the hell for", I thought.  "I'm a big boy now...toss it out and get back to work or some other happy thing.   I'm thinking that if I was still lodged direct center again in the disease the dentist chair would have felt like a vacation huh?  Hmmmm getting the pain blocks put in place before and during the proceedure was cool and then I don't self administer anesthesia anymore...or pull my own teeth.   Guess till I get the bridge replaced I'm gonna be soft stuff for a while...ICE CREAM!! YAY!!.   A Nonner can always find the positive side when we want.  HUH?  ((((hugs)))) biggrin

I hope you are taking care of yourself.  I had some teeth pulled a while back. It took several days to recover.  I hope you have lots of nice soothing foods on hand to keep yourself hydrated.

Sending you lots of love.

Maresie.

I feel for ya !! I had ten pulled all at once in March -- got tired of all the crap and the cost that went along with trying to keep my own teeth so I made the decision to detach & had all the tops pulled & replaced with a nice set of dentures.

I drank a lot of protein drinks and ate a lot of baked potatoes for a couple of wks ...and lost 20 lbs while I was healing -- Yippee!!!   So yes, if we look hard enough, we can find something positive in a bad situation  :-}

Feel better soon.

Jerry, I broke a tooth months ago and have been putting off going to the dentist. It's not causing me any pain, but I know that the fix will be painful. On the other hand, it's got to be done sooner or later. I think you've given me the courage to get it done sooner. Thanks for that, and everything else.

I have my first dental appointment in years booked in 2 weeks. Yes, it took me til almost 4 years sober to get around to find out the damage. I did the doctor a few months ago. For years and years I thought I was going to die and I treated my body like I wanted it to die. Now I'm scared to find out the damage done. Fortunately the body is fine....the teeth....we shall see... I'm dubious. Hope you better soon Jerry!

Good for all of you for taking care of yourselves. (I don't know where the underline on this is, but imagine it.)

You'll need the practice once you get to the high-maintenance years (like me).

Jerry, so are the Doctors young.

Yes we are fossils arn't we, lol....My daughter is in Human Resources and she is 45 and everyone else is in there mid 20's , so is her boss, she told me she feels old. OLD?

If they only know what we have been thru. I feel like we are the Pioneers and maybe the new generations will be a little smarter when encountering an alcoholic. But then again there's LOVE, theres that word again.

Glad you got the tooth out, I know the pain. Take care.

Hugs Bettina
