I'm not gonna get my hopes up, I know these things take time, and usually it's a painful recovery.
My alcoholic recently told me his cousin is in the hospital with severe alcohol poisoning and will most likely need to undergo surgery on his pancreas. I think it's made things very real, and has scared him into seeing a doctor. We'll see how this goes... I'll hold out hope for him, but I'm not gonna build anything on it just yet.
(((fallingdown))) I hope this is what your A needs to get him to see a doctor, quit drinking, start recovery. From my own experience there have been times when my A ¨saw the light¨ - temporarily. He always went back to drinking. It's good that you're being realistic. But it's always good to have hope too. Keep us posted, we care.
