The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method

information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I just found this board today. I've been Interneting searching for weeks looking for help to pull myself together. Really don't know how I missed this! I'm a mess. I've been drinking hard. Although I've been in and out of a bottle since I was 14, I have never before drank before work but I've went to work twice in the last couple of weeks with at least a 6 pack in me.
I'm so depressed I'm having trouble maintaining even the image of functionality. Why? Because my toxic relationship is over and I don't want it to be. I've found an Al-Anon meeting close by but can't ever seem to get there for legitimate reasons like my son got tied up at work and didn't get home in time with our one vehicle and my daughter needed me to babysit while she went to work at the last minute when her regular sitter cancelled.
My intellect KNOWS I should be grateful for this but my heart doesn't seem to be able to detach with or without love
Read the posts--lots of good experience there with detaching. You'll receive responses and you'll get the only advice we are ever supposed to give--find a face to face meeting where you live, and go there as well. There is an AA discussion group on this website, and they'd love to help you. And will suggest that you find an AA meeting and attend. Things can be unbelievably better, it just takes willingness to ask for help, and determination to help yourself.
Hugs, Temple

Welcome to MIP! Help is on the way. There is an AA board to post. My experience with AA is that they are there for you because they have been through it all. Keep coming back.
From everything I've seen, it is impossible to deal with anything else if the basic alcohol problem isn't addressed. And so much is addressed in addressing that. I hope you will start the miracle soon! I'm glad you found us -- take good care of yourself!
