DO OUR MEETINGS DESERVE YOUR SUPPORT???

 The summer has demands on all of us.  While I gladly accepted the chair of three meetings, a couple for the summer, I'm not a roomsitter.  Wednesday, I was the only one there for the entire schedule meeting time. 

Please take the time to make at least one meeting a week online to be there for newcomers as well as show your support for the group.

I know I'll be grateful.

I would be there but I don't know how. I asked a whole back about online mtgs and no one knew how to access them. Maybe that's why no one is there. I would be there if I knew how to access them.

I have never been able to get in and have tried a couple different times a few months ago.Could use them now with the new move and weird meeting here.

I know the feeling Fina...even our face to face on Wednesday was just two people...my wife and I...We waited for support and then supported ourselves home.  It happens.   ((((hugs)))) smile

I have tried but my computer apparently does not have the 'program' needed to get in or download whatever is needed.

Downloaded the Java so I could get into the meetings only to have

Unable to connect - Java Security. Access Control Exception. Access Denied.

Went back to the Java and it is loaded. Then when I hit the Help - it routed me to Go Daddy

Any Ideas????

I'd love to provide support. However, as many have already shared, I encounter technical difficulties every time. I'm sure I could fix them if I knew how. Sorry.

I'm not sure how to get to them either. I've tried a few times to find them. I guess I'll take some time today and try again. Is there a way to post a direct link on here before the meetings? I'm pretty tech savvy but have not found this format of forum easy.

I was having difficulty as well but finally got on. Try clicking on the small blue print above(says "Real" Al-Anon Meeting Directory)in the middle box under Al-Anon Family Group Message Board. Scroll to the very bottom of the page and there will be a link to install mIRC in pink. Hopefully that will get you on. It worked for me. Good luck!!:)

I come in thru Java and yes sometimes Java is down. That isn't anything we have power over. For those who use Java I have found that I must update it each time a new version comes out or I cannot access the room.
It is summer time and I also have found that this is the time people are on vacation, have the kids at home all day to watch and entertain etc. Since i have been here it has always slowed up during summer.
We all get here when we need to and when we can just as in F2F meetings. Not sure what more expectations one can put on a person to show for a particular meeting.

Hi everyone, the reason many are not able to get into the chat room for meetings is limited to 2 reasons for the most part.

#1.  Need to update/download Java software from http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp so you computer is running the most current version.

#2.  When the chatroom is loading on our site entrance at http://www.12stepforums.net/chatroom2.html a popup box will appear.  Many assume it is asking if you want to load something and again assuming they must want to load it for the chat room to load they click "YES".  However, it is not asking if you want to load something, its asking if you want to BLOCK the java from running, which is what opens and operates the room.  The answer should always be NO. YOU DO  NOT WANT TO BLOCK YOUR COMPUTER FROM RUNNING THE JAVA SOFTWARE.  

Java is a main stay in the computer program industry.  Over 3 billion applications use it.  It is not only safe, its a must have if you are going to fully enjoy what the internet has to offer, as many sites run java based elements that make them interactive and organized.

So... go get the most current version from the link at #1, and then when you try to load the chatrom page at the #2 link, and you see a popup appear, select NO.  You do not want to block the site from using your java software.

Hope this helps many of you get into the room that have been having difficulty and we'll see many more of you appear in the meetings.  

Online meetings are scheduled for 9am and 9pm eastern time.  Please attend and support them, and if you have some time in face to face Al-Anon meetings we could definetely use a few computer literate people to chair a meeting per week as service to the group.
