Reaching out

OK, so I feel a little bit better today.  A lady that I met in a F2F meeting invited me to her church today.  I was really scared but I did it.  My son (13) would not go, so I went and took my daughter with me.  She did great and really had a good time in Sunday School.  When I walked into the church with my friend by my side, I just started crying.  It is Fathers Day and my daughter doesnt get to see her daddy.  After about 15 minutes, I was able to feel my HP and I became calm and stopped crying.  I really do like this church and think I will go back.

Afterwards, she invited us to her house for lunch.  It was really nice to talk to someone in the program.  She is new to the program too so I dont think I could ask her to be my sponsor, but I am just feeling so blessed that she reached out to me.

I am really going to try to reach out more.  I need to realize that no one will know what is going on with me if I dont reach out and ask for help.  Its gonna be tough, and I am sure I will cry for the first few minutes, but am hoping that my HP will calm me the way he did today.

Thanks for being here!

Great post dragonflys, it especially reminds me of, "Courage is not the absence of fear."   It's taking the next right action in spite of it.  From where I sit, you have courage, my friend.

When I was ready, Higher power sent angels too, I have no doubt that's what they were, people who held me up at a time when I was crumbling. Higher power KNOWS what we need, and when I kept turning to Higher power, everything I NEEDED was supplied.

Here is a gentle suggestion, for me, it became REALLY important to watch my inner self-talk, especially when I kept saying, "this is so hard," or "this is going to be tough," etc. etc. I was told to affirm myself by adding, "But, I am doing it."  Take another look, you ARE doing what you have to do!!   Acknowledging "I am doing it"  builds me up, gives me strength.

Of course,  some days when I felt I had no strength to pull myself out of bed, I was told to pray for more strength, pray for more faith. Again, Higher power LONGS to give me what I need,  I just have to turn and ASK.

I am really inspired, you are doing it!  And you seem to truly know that This too shall pass. I needed that today, so thank you for posting.  We just gotta trudge through and in Al-anon....  we never have to do it alone. Praise Higher power
