The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
A friend of mine has a cute little saying. The elevator is broken so you better take the steps.
I realized the truth in that statement just last week. Nancy and I have been around for a while now, in Al-Anon I mean, not necessarily at this site. I think Nancy has about thirty years to my 16. And we're double winners too and I think we do quite a fair amount of work in the other fellowship and not as much as we should be doing in this one.
Now if you can just picture. We're both alcoholics. Neither one of us is drinking but neither one of us has to be drinking because its called alcoholism, not alcoholwasm. We got into Al-Anon for other reasons than each other, but we decided to use what we learned in Al-Anon to keep our relationship healthy. Its interesting on that you can rely.
We were having some troubles, not so much with each other but just with day to day stuff and I thought hey how long has it been since we went through the blueprint. After all, I go over the other 4th step at least twice a month with a new person, but the blueprint for progress, well if you haven't delved into it lately....
So, anyway, I got the book out, Nancy and I curled up on the sofa and started with the questions. we made it about half way through the book before we fell asleep in each others arms. All them big bad old problems didn't seem so big or bad once we started remembering why we were having them.
Communication. and Attitudes. and Control and Guilt....oh heck they're all good. We set aside a few hours on the weekend to finish what we started. Just getting back into some al-anon step work is a good refresher for us. I can't speak for Nancy but I got a lot of good out of it.
To be continued.....

I agree, the Steps are the key to my recovery and my life.
I must never forget the dark despair that embraced me when first found these rooms. In order for me to stay "Spiritually Awake" I must practice these principles and Steps one day at a time in all my affairs.
Weekly Step meetings remind of the power of this program
Was this before or after the table cloth presentation? I just gotta know because the blue print for progress is conference approved and the table cloth.....uh uh....never heard it discussed afore. ((((hug))))
ok.... now after reading Jerry's comment.... I am curious too.
But seriously.... whenever the "day to day" stuff starts to get me down, I always refer to the 12 steps and the slogans. They get me back on track EVERY time.
