I was feeling a little down today because tomorrow is my birthday. For the first time ever I doubt if my A will even remember, let alone do anything for me. I thought I'd spend the day doing something I really wanted to do for myself. But I couldn't think of anyhting that I wanted to do BY myself. My closest friends are either out of the country or have previous commitments for tomorrow. I thought of calling another friend to see if he wanted to do something together tomorrow. Before I had a chance to call him, he called me. Asked if I wanted to go out and ¨pal around¨ tonight, maybe get some dinner. This is strictly a platonic friendship, he and my A and I have been friends for years until A pretty much drove away all his friends with his constant drinking. But we have maintained our friendship even though A has opted out. He didn't know tomorrow is my birthday, just wanted to  spend some time together for a few hours. So we went out and had a lovely dinner at a restaurant in the next vilage. It was just what I needed tonight. A reminder that I do have people in my life that care about me and enjoy my company.  A great meal, good company, a few laughs. A perfect unexpected early birthday surpise. Thank you HP!
