Love

I was just re-reading the questions in the Blueprint For Progress under the topic of Love. I like the quote they have there:

I needed love before I even knew what it was. Now that I understand something about it, I need it even more. By loving myself, I not only take care of my own needs, but I lay a foundation for loving others. By loving others, I learn to treat myself well. - Courage to Change p. 42

I like that.

Great Page Bernie

I must admit that I read that page many times through the years nodding my head and appreciating the words. I knew that by attending meetings, working the Steps, living one day at a time with trust in my Higher Power I was loving myself. When my soul and being were restored through this program then I was truly able to feel whole (for the first time in my life).

Sharing that wholeness with others enables me to be further enriched.

 Thank God for alanon

Thank so much for the topic

That is so true Wolfie. The only way to really get is by giving...it's that strange paradox and sounds cliched, but it really works. The more you give out the more you get and the more you have to keep giving...not in a codependent way like when I give out of fear or put other's needs above mine, but something like letting HP do the giving and using me to do it.

As I learn to love me more and more, I find I have so much more love to offer. It's amazing to me really. So many years in shame and dislike of myself, it wasn't as hard as I thought to turn it around. But its brought me so much more.

Thank you for this qoute. I am continually amazed at how much this program and the people in it have to offer me.

I thought I knew what love was. I thought it meant giving yourself over to someone completely. I am only now learning that this is not love, this is madness. I have been confusing co-dependancy for love and I have been neglecting to love myself.

But I'm starting to wake up :)

Thanks again
