Service work

I don't know how many people are currently active in service work for alanon.  I have to say this is one of the most rewarding aspects of the program for me.  I gotta keep giving it away in order to keep it.

We go to a treatment center for family night once a month and this is my first night to go to this particular deal.  I'm very excited to go and see kind of what happens and how things go.

This is going to part of my on going healing just as the speaker meetings as well as the open AA meetings.

Hugs P :)

Great Pushka!  All of you are appreciated more than you know!   I grew up Knowing if I "take", I must "give".  During the crisis periods of alcoholism, I was far from being able to give as I learned a whole new way of thinking and responding while juggling life with children at home, work and our demanding alcoholic.  I was a sponge however....

So, who lines up the service work, schedules, fill ins etc?  I need to talk to that person.  Thanks!

Great Job Pushka

I agree Service Work is a very powerful tool of recovery.  It makes me feel more  a part of  alanon and a contributing member

Service Work is how I truly grew  and learned to trust the process

It is nice to be part of a fellowship of equals

It was really an amazing experience and I hope to go again next month. Our whole alanon area is involved with it. You don't usually go alone, .. there are other people there with you it's kind of like a panel. We shared a little of our story and it was a really nice time to listen to the people in recovery talk about not realizing how the disease is just not about them. It was a powerful experience to coin Betty's term. :)

Anyway, looking forward to continuing with it.

Hugs p :)
