working on not living in my head so much.

I am reading a book called When God winks at you and there is a quote in it and it says:

I'm an old man and have known many troubles, but most of them never happened~Mark Twain

This quote speaks to me so much because I have always lived inside my head so much that 99% of my worries never came true.  Through Alanon, I am learning to not go in the neighborhood of my own mind alone and to use the tools of this program.  I called a friend from alanon today and we had lunch.  It really helps for me to reach out to others so I can not dwell on my disease.  I am even going to a movie with a friend tonight to see The Vow.  I am not isolating as much.   This program works and I am so grateful.

Hugs,

Such great awareness!! I have a dear friend who has always told me worry never moved a rock and just to prove it to myself I tried it .. lol. I felt better having it confirmed that no worry won't move a rock.

I am learning not to focus so much on the disease it's still hard to go out with alanon friends and not talk about what's going on. So that is something I'm really doing as well is branching out so I don't think about what's going on.

Hugs P :)

I seem to be getting a little better about worrying, but I was thinking this morning it's almost like being in denial when I focus on me and not my A/A's and their issues.  I guess even that's better than allowing myself to go in the worry zone.  I try to remember to say a quick prayer and let it go.  Thanks for your share.  Highlyfavored!!
