If you missed my post I will give you the back ground.
I took my addicted son's dog to my home because she was not being cared for properly, I had her for almost two years. I told my son he could have the back when he could feed and care for her, he made no effort to do better.
Then about a week and a half ago he came and took her away in the middle of the night, he was very proud of himself and told me she belonged to him.
I didn't argue with him but I did tell him to think about what was best for her, well, he finally wanted to take off with his friends and he dropped her off here with me.
She was dirty, hungry and seemed very tired, I am so happy to have her back. I love that dog and she is now rested and fed.
As a dog lover, I'm very glad to hear your good news!

I remember learning years ago that everyone and thing in the family is affected by alcoholism and one of our members who had a three legged dog that use to run and hide everytime her alcoholic came home thought that maybe we should start an Al-Apup group. Kinda laughable back then but also a real consideration. The disease doesn't leave anyone behind sadly.
When your own 3 legged dog "runs" away that should be a hint that someone has hit bottom. This disease can cause even unconditional love to become conditionsl love and then anger.
Dreamsover you sound like a great sponsor. Put the leash on her and walk her through 12 steps repetedly.
Enjoy the love, you deserve it.

I'm so happy to hear that the dog is back with someone who loves and cares for her. And that you will once again have her love and company. This is such great news! Thanks for the update.
