90-90

My sponsor and I have agreed that I will not be finishing my Al-Anon 90-90. I can see why it's extremely beneficial for AA members in their early days of sobriety -- keeping them busy with the program gives them less time to revert to old behaviors -- but for me, being super-busy brought back old behaviors (neglecting self-care like exercise and healthy foods because I was too tired/busy) and my sponsor and I agreed that finishing the 90-90 would do more harm than good. I may try again at some point in the future, but right now I can't handle it very well.

But some good things did come of it -- I now have two homegroups that I will go to every week, and know of a good "backup meeting" for most other days of the week if I happen to really need a meeting on a particular day. And it got me through step 4!

...and another valuable lesson of the 90-90 came in *not* finishing the 90-90. I have a habit of biting off more than I can chew, and then busting my butt to make it work because I don't see any other option... it's kinda nice to be able to take a step back and re-evaluate whether or not I should be doing whatever it is I decided to do!

amazing self growth. I know what you mean about biting off more than you can chew. I do that too. You have to do what is best for you. Sounds like you have a great sponsor.

I've never been a big believer in the 90 in 90, for Al-Anons (absolute believer in the necessity of this for AA)....

I think - in good conscience - we need to go to as many meetings as we need, to forge our path towards getting better.... Part of our program is honesty and respect - with ourselves - and it sounds like you and your sponsor are doing great in that regard.

Kudos to you both

Tom
