Welcome to MIP I am glad you have reached out and realize that you need help. Alcoholism is a disease from which you may recover. AA meetings and tools have helped many find a new life without alcohol.
This Board is for family and friends of alcoholics. You can connect with the Alcoholic Antonymous (AA}side of this Board by posting your message to this site.
I am glad you are reaching out for help. I am sending you support and compassion. Many have developed rich, rewarding, healthy lives with the support of AA meetings and members. Best of luck to you as you begin your journey to "recover" your true self. Again, sending you support.
The fact that you've reached out here shows you're not hopeless at all - you've taken a huge first step in asking for help. Things can get better; in the AA boards and meetings you will find lots of people going through this and many who are living happy lives in recovery. Sending you support.
Thanks for sharing. I hope you find A.A. meetings and the A.A. board to help your progress and I am sending you love and support on your recovery journey!

Maybe there's some connection with drinking, smoking, drugs, etc.. just addiction in general .. I know for me with my smoking .. it's the Absolute most difficult thing I've ever had to Think about .. What I'm recognising for me is that I'm in the Same position; different drug / addiction .. same dependencies .. It's my Constant Companion .. which I'm recognising for my partner also .. his drug is his Constant Companion .. He can Control its coming and going .. No abandonment, etc..
The Awareness on my addict I had the other night; don't know if you can relate .. was that with him .. I Always thought his using was to quiet My voice and others .. What I recognised the last night I was with him was that he was trying to Quiet his Own Voice .. His voice of shame, blame, control, guilt etc.. Many negative messages .. I was thinking its ok to quiet some of the things we tell ourselves before we're ready .. Seems you are listening to the voice of your own reasoning that's telling you its time to Say it outloud .. I Need help .. Good point to arrive at .. The first step I'm supposing is the hardest for us both .. Admitting we are powerless Over the way we feel when we're using .. Our need to depend on something outside ourselves to help us .. The help though is in us and we will find it by saying it outloud because others will help us recognize areas within ourselves ..
Finding a 12 step is the first place .. face 2 face whenever possible .. AA .. ?? keep coming here too & reasoning things through .. This is a Great site .. Good luck to you and many hugs your way !!
