My wife invited me to attend an AA meeting while we were up with her family for the holiday. It was an amazing experience and if you have the opportunity, I highly recommend it. I don't know exactly why, but for some reason, attending this meeting really helped bring a lot into focus for me.
We had a very nice holiday and hope you all did too!
I love the Open AA meetings it really does open a whole other side to what this disease is about and how the addict feels in the throws of their own stuff. Hugs P :)

I am so gald you went to a meeting while you were out of town. I love to visit other groups when I am traveling. In October I had the privilege to go to an AA meeting on the beach at sunrise. I introduced myself as a member of alanon and they welcomed me like I was part of the family. That probably was one of the best meetings I have been to watching the sun come up, hearing the ocean waves, and having a meeting on gratitude.
I go to open AA meetings with my husband as part of "date night" sometimes. Haha - dinner, an open AA meeting, barnes & noble, and we're home by 9:30. We're so tame these days - and I LOVE it! The open AA meetings are my favorites. It helps remind me that alcoholics are just human beings with problems, just like me. They aren't these all-powerful people that have the ability to change my life for the worse, the way I sometimes credit them.
I have occassinally nipped over to the AA board on here to read a bit.. should do it more often maybe... it helps me to get past some of the resentment I think
