A 'God-incidence'

Hello and hugs to my MIP family! In my last post, I was extremely stressed about an up-coming confrontation with my AH. I read and re-read the advice given here. With the help of my HP and using your words as a guide, I stood fast to my resolve to live separate from my AH unless/until he was willing to seek support to stop drinking. He refused, also refused to consider a separation, it was either marriage or divorce for him, no in-between. We agreed, in the light of both our feelings, that the only thing left was to divorce. I began calming going through all the things we needed to do to get that process started. I think seeing that I had a plan already in place made him realize that this was something I had given much thought to, it was not just a whim or threat or tactic to get my own way. At that point he agreed to go see an A abuse counselor. He said he would under no circumstances ever return to AA. He had a lot of reasons but I think the main one was that, in our small community, it's not really anonymous and that was beginning to cause him much embarrassment at work. We left it at that. I was pleased with the outcome. I spent a lot of time that night praying that my HP would give me the hope, wisdom, and peace that I so needed at church the next day. I prayed for some kind of assurance that what I was doing was HER will, not mine- I tend to confuse the two : ) Sunday morning he had planned to go hunting. However, the wind here was terrible that morning and he changed his plans and decided to go to church with me. I felt God had sent those gale force winds just for me! Shortly after the service began, my AH pointed out the Prayer of St. Francis listed as part of the service- we've never used it before. He said that was the prayer they always said at his AA meetings. I started getting that tingly feeling that happens when I know God is at work in my life. Then, in the course of the sermon, our pastor talked about AA's founder, the organization itself, really singing the praises of AA. In all the time we have attended this church, I have never heard a word mentioned about AA or alcoholism. The tingling had now increased to a buzz! When we got home, my AH announced that he would be going back to AA on Tuesday. I was shocked. I knew the church service had touched him, but I figured it would just affirm to him that he was making the right decision in going to see a counselor. I said, "You're kidding?!". He said, "I don't see how I can do anything else. I've never in my life had the feeling that God was speaking more directly to ME than He was this morning." My daughter-in-law calls this a 'God-incidence'. I love that: a coincidence engineered by God. Anyway, sorry about the long post. I am so excited at this new turn of events, and so grateful to all of you here who have been teachers, supporters, and crying-posts for me every step of the way. Without your guidance and wisdom, I know I would not have handled this the way I did and the out-come would have been SO different. Bless each and every one of you. Denise

Denise,

Coincidence is Gods way of being anonymous.  You know sometimes my HP starts throwing stones, then he begins throwing boulders.   God has a way of reaching all of us no matter how far down the scale we have gone.  What a miracle you were there to see it unfold.

Thank you for sharing.

xoxo, T

Aloha Denise...from my experiences there are no co-incidences in God's will; there are miracles and having had those myself very very recently She decided to get your attention; that even when you doubt and fear and have anxiety She's designing a solution for your alcoholic.  You got to see it and experience it because that is how the program works when your work it and you have been doing that.  She never leaves your presence and you cannot out run her the most you can do is trust and stay open to her will and your work in her will.   Locally we call your miracle a "chicken skin" moment.  I had one on Sunday which was the consequence of a thought prayer on Tuesday and which involved another man who I helped be non-violent 6 years ago.   "Nothing ever happens by chance in God's world."   You must just really deserve it.  (((hugs))) smile
