Have to laugh

Why is it that my husband will 'hide' evidence of his drinking in the most obvious places ever?!

It's like that Seinfeld episode when Kramer is hiding a key in Jerry's apartment but he hides it in places like Jerry's coat pocket so he finds it right away. LOL

I had to look for 2 things yesterday and both times found cigarette packs stuffed in drawers. Drawers that I go into! (BTW I don't want him to smoke in the house which is why he hides it - but duh, it obvious!)

Same thing with drinking and bottles. He drinks pop in a glass so he can add to it. To do this, he bends down behind the counter so I can't see him give himself a top up. Good grief, lol. I know what you are doing down there.

It's funny. Or at least you have to laugh, don't you? :)

I think with my guy he wasn't "hidding" so I wouldn't see but hiding because he was embarassed and ashamed.

He said he hated me riding to the beer store with him because he hated me seeing him go in and buy beer.

He'd push the emptys under the couch so it wouldn't be out there how many he had had then I'd have to dig them out when I cleaned??

It is funny but in a sad way.

Sometimes I laugh in the moment and cry later when I realize the sickness of it all. It isn't easy dealing with the A's in our lives or the irrational behavior's that come along with them. I hope you are able to take care of yourself. Sending you love and support on your journey!

My AH did similar things, I couldn't figure out how come he was literally out mowing 2 - 3x a week and then not only our yard every one else's on our country block which wound up being about 5 acres literally. I found out later why he had such a fit when it came to our son

I found beer cans behind the shed not for looking literally trying to straighten up behind the shed and realized at that point how bad things were. It's funny in a very very sad way to think of my AH hiding behind the shed drinking beer was really the lightening bolt I needed to see how ill his thinking was at that point and still is to a point, it's one of the many things that got me to alanon and I"m sooo glad I did.

Hugs, P :)

An AA friend of mine told me a long time ago that someday I will get a sense of humor about all of this and he was right.  That is the amazing part of recovery, that you have found the humor in any situation.

Thanks for sharing!
